First Aid at Work - Primary Course
This course trains the student to the required assessed level of competency in first aid procedures, techniques and legislation in order that as a qualified first aider they may assist the employer in conforming to the Health & Safety (first aid) Regulations 1981 and current Approved Code of Practice and Guidance.
Assessing the need for and the practical application of resuscitation; Recognition and management of common major or minor illnesses; The movement of a casualty safely as required by the circumstances of the incident and the workplace.
On successful completion of the intern and final assessments, the candidate will be awarded a Certificate of Proficiency, which remains valid for a period of 3 years.
COURSE CONTENT
- The legal framework for first aid provision at work
- The role of the first aider in emergency procedures
- Personal hygiene in first aid procedures
- The use of first aid equipment provided in the workplace
- Recording and reporting incidents
- Assessing and managing the casualty, who may be unconscious
- Wounded or bleeding
- Burned or scalded
- Who may have injuries to bones, muscles or joints
- Eye injuries
- Been overcome by gas or fumes
- Who may be suffering from shock or,
- May have been poisoned.
Course Duration - 4 days plus exam
